Product overview / 01

How a luxury metal RFID charging card actually works

A metal RFID EV charging card is a premium physical credential for luxury automotive, hospitality, private-club and VIP charging programmes. The metal finish adds weight, tactility and permanence, while the embedded contactless credential performs the same account-identification role as a conventional charging card.

Metal changes the RF construction. A continuous conductive body can detune or shield a 13.56 MHz antenna, so a useful product is not simply a solid engraved plate. The approved card combines anodised aluminium with a controlled RF-transparent window or polymer antenna zone, and the finished construction is tested at the target charger reader before production.

01

Luxury finish

Choose matte graphite, brushed silver, champagne gold or an approved bespoke finish, then define acceptable tone and surface variation.

02

RF construction

Approve the location and appearance of the antenna window rather than assuming a solid-metal card will read reliably.

03

Reader and token fit

Confirm chip protocol, UID length, identifier representation and live authorization on representative chargers.

04

Presentation experience

Specify the sleeve, leather case, presentation box, insert and fulfilment sequence alongside the physical card.

Features and options / 02

What can be specified.

The programme can coordinate metal finish, engraving, electronic credential, variable identity and presentation as one controlled luxury product.

01

Graphite, silver and gold finishes

Anodised and brushed surfaces can be sampled for colour, gloss, fingerprint visibility and contrast before release.

02

RF-engineered composite body

The antenna zone is designed into the card construction so contactless performance is not treated as an afterthought.

03

Precision engraving

Logos, fine linework, contactless marks and member references can use laser engraving with optional colour-filled detail.

04

Diamond-cut edge

A bright machined edge can create a controlled contrast against graphite, silver or gold faces where the construction permits.

05

Variable personalization

Each card can carry a unique visible number or member reference linked to the electronic UID in the delivery file.

06

Luxury presentation

Custom sleeves, suede or leather-style cases, rigid boxes and programme inserts can be developed with the card.

Technical fit / 03

Metal finish and RF performance must be approved together

A premium surface is only successful when the finished card also reads consistently and supplies the exact token required by the charging platform.

01

Solid metal can block contactless performance

The card needs an engineered non-metal RF path, antenna window or comparable construction. Its position and appearance should be visible in the approved sample.

02

Reader geometry still matters

Test the finished card at the actual reader face and normal tap angle; a successful desktop read does not replace installed-charger validation.

03

The finish is not the security model

Graphite, silver and gold surfaces do not change token security. Choose UID-only or secure application behavior from the reader and backend design.

04

Engraving needs a production reference

Approve line weight, contrast, edge distance, variable-data placement and any colour infill on the exact selected metal finish.

05

Packaging can affect the issue workflow

If cards are individually paired, boxed or mailed, define how visible numbers, UID files and packaging labels remain synchronized.

Full specification / 04

Separate the physical card from its credential data.

Values below are the available product route, not a substitute for reader validation. The final quotation records the exact construction, electronic configuration and data deliverables.

Production route / 05

Approve the complete workflow before volume.

The sample should prove construction, print, electronic behavior and data handling together. That approved reference then controls production and reorders.

  1. 01

    Technical brief

Reader, current credential, platform, quantity and operating environment

  2. 02

    Production sample

Proposed material, inlay, artwork, encoding and variable data

  3. 03

    System validation

Physical read, exact token capture, data import and live authorization

  4. 04

    Production and QA

Approved masters, controlled data, batch checks and packing review

  5. 05

    Delivery and reorders

Final mapping file, shipment record and retained repeat-order reference

Frequently asked / 06

Questions buyers ask before ordering.

Answers are based on the physical credential and production scope. Your charging platform remains responsible for account, tariff and authorization rules.

01

Can a metal RFID card work at an EV charger?

Yes, when it uses an RF-engineered metal-composite construction and a chip supported by the charger reader. A completely solid metal plate can shield the antenna, so finished samples must be tested at representative chargers.

02

Which metal finishes are available?

The core luxury range includes matte graphite, brushed silver and champagne gold. Bespoke colours and surface treatments can be reviewed against quantity, engraving contrast, RF construction and sample approval.

03

Is the card solid metal?

The visible face can be anodised metal, but a reliable contactless credential requires an RF-transparent antenna path. The exact polymer window or composite construction should be stated in the quotation and shown in the approved sample.

04

Can metal charging cards be individually engraved?

Yes. Member numbers, card references and other approved variable fields can be laser engraved and mapped to each card's electronic identifier in a delivery file.

05

Do gold and silver finishes change RFID compatibility?

The decorative finish itself should not determine compatibility. Performance depends on the complete antenna construction, chip, reader and installed geometry, which are validated on the finished card.

06

What should be approved before production?

Approve finish colour, metal grain, antenna-window appearance, thickness, edge treatment, engraving, variable data, packaging, physical reading and live backend authorization.
