With a rapidly expanding network of ABB fast chargers being installed at luxury malls, commercial hubs, and residential complexes, EEZY Charge needed a high-performance access credential. The Challenge

Operating an EV charging network in the UAE presents unique environmental challenges. During the peak of summer, temperatures inside a parked vehicle can easily exceed 70°C (158°F). Standard RFID cards can warp, delaminate, or suffer chip failure under such extreme heat.

Furthermore, as a premium brand supporting Dubai Vision 2030, the EEZY Charge charging card needed a flawless aesthetic finish that wouldn't fade in the intense sun. Technically, the cards required top-tier cryptographic security to protect user accounts and needed to integrate seamlessly with the sophisticated backend software managing the ABB charging hardware.

The Solution

ChargeRFID engineered specialized, branded PVC RFID cards EV charging networks require for extreme climates. We utilized a high-vicinity, heat-resistant PVC composite designed to maintain its structural integrity and prevent warping even when left on a car dashboard in the Dubai sun. The cards were finished with a premium matte coating and UV-resistant inks to ensure the EEZY Charge branding remained vibrant for years.

At the core of these resilient cards are the industry-leading MIFARE DESFire EV3 chips. This technology provides AES-128 cryptographic security, ensuring that every charging session is authenticated safely. We rigorously tested the chip architecture to guarantee flawless OCPP compatibility, allowing the cards to communicate instantly with the ABB chargers and the EEZY Charge central management system.

The Sustainability Angle

Dubai Vision 2030 places a heavy emphasis on smart, sustainable cities. By accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, EEZY Charge is directly contributing to the reduction of urban air pollution and carbon emissions in the UAE.

While the cards utilize a PVC composite for necessary heat resistance, they are engineered for extreme longevity. By creating durable, long-lasting credentials, ChargeRFID helps EEZY Charge reduce the frequency of card replacements, minimizing plastic waste.
